Do you know what wellness means? Sometimes, even though we do all that we can to stay healthy, we still get sick. There are germs everywhere, and kids' bodies sometimes haven't built up their resistance to germs. Did you know that getting sick can sometimes be a good thing? It's true! Some diseases are far more harmful to adults than they are to kids. Catching a disease when we're a kid helps train our bodies to know how to fight the disease later in life. In fact, sometimes a doctor will give you a small dose of a disease, just to help you fight it. Sounds crazy, right? Well it works.
Sometimes your doctor will give you medicine, which you'll need to take to feel better. A lot of times, this medicine might taste bad. It might surprise you to know that this terrible taste is a good thing. Medicine should only be taken when you're sick, and if medicine tasted like cookies, you might get the urge to try it when you don't need it. If your mommy or daddy decides that you need to go to the doctor, just smile and say "great!" Probably, you'll leave the office feeling a lot better than you did before. |
